How much Aspirin is too much?


For various patients, this medication will require a different dose. Follow your doctor’s advice or the instructions on the label before taking this medicine.

  • For fever, or for temporary pain relief and inflammation, such as period pains, or headaches: 350 to 650 mg every 4/6 hours.
  • For Heart Attacks: 75, 81, 162 or 325 mg daily.
  • For Stroke: 75 to 100 mg daily.
  • If I have a Kidney problem, a dose adjustment may be needed.
  • If I have a Liver problem, a dose adjustment may be needed.
  • This medicine is not recommended for children and pregnant women.

Caution: 34,000 mg of aspirin, would be a life-threatening amount.

The main symptoms of overdose include stomach pain, vomiting, vision or hearing problems, diarrhoea, and fast or slow breathing.


Consult your doctor before taking Aspirin


  • If you are allergic to aspirin.
  • If you have or have ever had asthma.
  • If you often have heartburn, upset stomach, or stomach pain.
  • If you have or have ever had ulcers or anaemia.
  • If you have or have ever had anaemia.
  • If you have bleeding problems such as haemophilia.
  • If you have kidney or liver disease.
  • If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
  • If you are breastfeeding.
  • If you are having surgery.
  • If you drink alcohol every day.

Note: If your doctor advises you to take this medicine regularly and you miss a dose within the specified time, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
